BVRV is a project of ISKCON — a worldwide family united in the practice of bhakti yoga.
The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) was founded in New York City in 1966 by His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. What began as a single center has since grown into a worldwide movement of more than five hundred temples, rural communities, and major centers, alongside nearly a hundred affiliated vegetarian restaurants and thousands of local namahatta meeting groups — reaching millions of congregational members around the globe.
ISKCON belongs to the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition within Vedic monotheism, and its teachings draw directly from scriptures such as the Bhagavad-gita and Srimad-Bhagavatam. At its heart is the practice of bhakti yoga — the path of loving devotion — which teaches that the ultimate goal of every living being is to reawaken their love for God, Lord Krishna. Central to this practice is the chanting of the Hare Krishna maha-mantra, rooted in the understanding that the name of God is non-different from God Himself.
